Australian visa-free scam
The Australian High Commission, Suva, is aware of a scam circulating on social media and the internet announcing visa free entry to Australia for Fiji Nationals. This is untrue. Australia maintains a universal visa regime whereby foreign nationals are required to obtain a visa prior to travel.
To ensure people are not stopped on departure from airports, we strongly recommend that potential travellers obtain information and assistance regarding visa applications from our Australian Visa Application Centre service provider TT Services
There have been previous incidents when scammers have targeted websites with false promises of jobs or travel to Australia. People who respond to such advertisement are then asked to pay for the Australian visa by lodging money into a bank account. No job exists and no visa application is lodged.
All Fijians should refer to the official website of the Australian High Commission for information relating to visas or future work opportunities. Any suspected fraud should be reported to the Fiji Police Force, the Fiji Commerce Commission or the Australian High Commission, Fiji.
