Three Fiji Schools Benefit from Australian Direct Aid Program

18 September 2008

The Australian High Commissioner has approved almost F$30,000 under the Australian Direct Aid Program (DAP) to help three schools in rural areas – one each in Sigatoka, Tavua and Tailevu North.

Students at the Nalagi Public School in Sigatoka will benefit from new furniture and library books. The school’s management has received a grant of F$11,663 to purchase the items which will assist the teachers in their efforts to provide quality education.

Savatu Primary School in Tavua has been given a grant of F$6,500 to purchase a new water tank. Students at the school often face disruptions to the classes as a result of water shortages during dry spells.

The Rotary Club of Suva North has also received F$11,300 to assist it with its building project at Natovi Catholic School. The funds will be used to renovate dormitories which house 200 children at the school which serves 20 villages in Tailevu.
