Australia & NZ provide relief funds

16 April 2004 - Australia and New Zealand Provide Relief Funds

The Governments of Australia and New Zealand will contribute a total of F$35,000 to the Fiji Red Cross Society to assist with replenishing stocks of relief supplies.

The Society has exhausted its stock of supplies over the past week while providing flood relief to flood-affected communities.

In response to a request from the Ministry of Health, Australia will also provide over water purification tablets at a cost of F$26,500 to assist in the provision of safe drinking water to communities whose water supply has been affected by the heavy flooding in recent days. The tablets will ensure over 200,000 litres of safe drinking water.
