Ministry of Education receives Australian-Funded Computers

31 March 2004 - Australian-Funded Computer Equipment for Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education has received three hundred thousand dollars worth of computer software and hardware under the Australian Government-funded Fiji Education Sector Program.

The assistance will benefit a number of different sections of the ministry.

Computers provided to the Primary and Secondary sections of the Ministry will assist with the placement of teachers in schools around the country while similar equipment provided to the Examinations Section will help with the processing of examinations results.

The Ministry's Research and Development Section will use its new computers to gather relevant information from schools about student and teacher numbers to assist future planning.

Computers have also been provided to each of the Ministry's nine district offices.

The Fiji Education Sector Program (FESP) is an Australian Government funded program working in partnership with Fiji's Ministry of Education to implement strategic reforms aimed at improving the quality and delivery of educational services in Fiji, especially to children in disadvantaged, rural and remote communities.

The three-year program, which began in January 2003, is valued at A$10 million.
