The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is conducting a number of reviews and evaluations of strategies for recruitment of personnel to the ADF.

At this stage, the ADF has no plans to target recruits from Pacific island nations. Should Pacific island people migrate to Australia and apply for enlistment, they will be considered in competition with all other applicants for entry into the ADF.

ADF recruitment will continue to be predominantly domestic, but as in other fields of endeavour, ADF will complement that with skills and experiences from outside of Australia through Australia's immigration p rogram.
