THIRD DEATH THREAT RECEIVED BY AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION
On 27 June the Australian High Commission received a third death threat, similar in tone to the previous threats received in May. The threat came in a letter through the mail.
The High Commission immediately contacted the Police, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Civil Aviation. The Australian Government appreciates the valuable assistance provided by Fiji authorities.
Heightened security arrangements, implemented since the receipt of the two earlier threats, remain in place at the High Commission.
The Australian Government has also restated its earlier reasonable request to the interim Government for the deployment to Fiji of two Australian Federal Police personnel to provide close personal protection during this difficult time.
