Australian Education Showcase for Fiji Students

22 March 2010

Fiji students seeking to undertake further studies in Australia will have an opportunity to learn of the various options open to them at an Australian education showcase this week.

The showcase at the Holiday Inn in Suva on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 March will be followed by similar showcases at the Novotel in Nadi on Thursday 25 March and at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka on Friday 26 March.

Attending the showcase will be representatives from Australian educational institutions, and from AusAID and Australian Immigration.

Students, career teachers, parents and corporations attending will be provided information on the various Australian scholarships which are available and on student visa requirements.

They will also be advised of entry requirements, enrolment fees and the various courses of study on offer.

Australian educational institutions participating in the showcase include the Australian Maritime College, Central Queensland University, Griffith University, TAFE Sydney, the University of Canberra, University of New England, the University of Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland.

In addition to offering safe and vibrant learning environments close to Fiji, Australian educational institutions also provide graduates who are in demand by employers globally.

Over 500,000 international students study in Australia in any one year with Australia being branded, amongst English-speaking countries, as a Top 4 destination for education. This is based on Australia’s market share of international students. Other top destinations include the United States of America, the United Kingdom and England.

Australia also received a top 10 ranking in the World Economic Forum’s 2008-09 Global Competitiveness Report on Education.

Education is Australia’s fourth largest export. Australian education focuses on three pillars: quality and well rounded education; value for money and time invested; and a safe and supportive learning environment.
