The Queensland State General Election will be on Saturday 24 March 2012 and the Queensland Local Government Election on 28 April 2012. The Australian High Commission will not be providing voting services. If you are in Fiji at the time of the elections, electors should apply for a postal vote.
To apply for a postal vote, electors must complete an 'Applications for a Ballot Paper' (Form 12) which is available on the Electoral Commission of Queensland's website www.ecq.qld.gov.au. If electors do not have internet access, a copy of the 'Application for a Ballot Paper' form can be collected from the Australian High Commission, Suva, at the 37 Princes Road guardhouse.
The completed form should be faxed to: +61 7 3036 5770 or scanned and emailed to: [email protected] as soon as possible. State election applications must be returned no later than 6pm (Queensland time) on Thursday 22 March 2012. For the Local Government Election the form must be returned no later than 6pm (Queensland time) on Wednesday 25 April 2012.
Ballot papers will be sent to you according to the application you submit.
Electors voting in both must complete and return an application form for each election.
